And thought I’d filled the envelopes. As I don’t have a regular income..I am living on income from savings, etc wasn’t too sure about how to set it up..also planning to kick it off in August as have had some overspending..will go back and try again after reading the material in the last post.

Hi Theresa! If you’ve created your Envelopes and plan to start in earnest on January 1, you can set up a Fill for that date. Here’s how: https://goodbudget.com/help/getting-started-guide/step-4-fill-envelopes/ After that, you’ll start adding in your expenses and other transactions from then on.

Meanwhile maybe I can save up for a really nice restaurant.
I made up my budget, but I want to start January 1. I wonder how I tell it that?

This way I’m able to say no easier to kings I like, because I would rather have …..
It’s the same w dieting. If I’m thinking of buying/eating a splurge item, say cookies, it has to b a cookie type I really like! Otherwise I pass on it.
Why spend and b disappointed? It saves me $ and brings the higher enjoyment value.

It’s important to take concience of the expenses that are not really adding up to the “yes” column and start to realize and remove them to leave space (or better said MONEY) to the real YES!

Thanks for the great app, at the end of the month I really get a YES, and if not there, at least I get a “not this month”, but will shift track next month.
